Use the Predator

                                     USE THE PREDATOR


       I sit here at home and wonder what is wrong with this picture. I have my TV on to the Military Channel where it shows our troops patrolling roads and trying to detect IED's in Iraq. One day a patrol goes out to check the road. All day long these troops are busy checking for bombs and they cover two miles. The next day, a convoy leaves the camp, and gets hit by, you guessed it. While I do not fault the troops in any way whatsoever, it strikes me as damn strange about the leadership.

       I know that there are UAV's being used in Irag. These are unmanned ariel vehicles. The most commonly used that I know of is called the predator. It can be armed if needed, and they have the capability of staying aloft for thirty hours or more at a time. They are invisible as 30,000 feet or more is their ceiling. With the cameras on board, they can detect anything that moves on the ground, even in the night time. As I hear of our troops getting killed and injured by these bombs, I have to ask myself why in the hell does not our leaders put these vehicles in the air patrolling the roads that they know damn well are going to mined by the insurgents?

       If this were done, we would know when and where the bombs were, thus being able to remove them, or at the very least, avoid them before they were used against us. I am not some kind of genius, but commonn sense tells me that this could be done. After all, the only result is to save our troops from harm. One day, there is nothing, then the next day, the IED's are there, and our troops are killed or injured. I hear all of this propa-ganda about how well we are doing. Why in the world is this not being done? We have uksed the predator for armed strikes, and yet when it comes down to the basics, there is no thought given for it's use for saving the lives of those in most danger.

       The Customs agents here in America use the predator to help patrol our American/Mexican border. If they can do it, so can the military. Do not tell me the Customs agents are so much smarter than the commisioned officers of the Marine Corp. This predator, if used, keeps the troops out of harms way, can be used in any weather, doesn't get tired, have to sleep or eat, and does a fantastic job. When the insurgents plant a bomb, the camera not only captures the pictures of them doing it, but can also tell us where the bombs are, Once known, we can take appropriate action to disable them, quicker, faster and safer, and our troops can be used much more effectively. Isn't that what we are supposed to be doing over there, besides winning their hearts and minds?

       Perhaps, some one in power will happen upon this article and take it to heart. Maybe they might take a suggestion and implement this or something similar. This is not asking for the impossible, just utilize the tools you have in a more effective manner. I am aware the military is not open for suggestions from the rank and file. If one isn't an officer of a certain status, what in the hell do you know anyway? For them, it is better to just waste lives and keep on doing what they have always done. Ignore the obvious. Perhaps I am wrong, and I really hope I am. So, prove it to me, and start thinking out of the box, work smarter, not harder. The impossible is only impossible until someone with courage and determination steps forward and makes it possible.

LORD HELP US

     Yes, I was there as a spectator. I listened, and heard what was being said by the prez. What I found most revealing, had nothing to do with him, or what he said. In fact, not only was I amazed, but appalled at the same time. Some might find this funny, others will get sensitive on me, but who in the hell cares? Not me.

     Is it against the law to have well dressed women in Washington D.C.? Is it against the law to have attractive women in government? the answer might surprise you, but it isn't. It is just that the old fuddy duddies in Washington don't have a clue. Nancy Pelosi, I think that's who it was, wore a lavender affair with her t-shirt (I think that's what it was) and her ugly necklace. The necklace looked like a dog collar, and she was on a short leash. All she did was get up and down on command. When the TV cameras panned the room and one could see our representatives, and the way they were dressed, it was disgusting.

     The men for the most part were dressed in power suits, expensive to say the least. With their income, one should not expect any less. Most of the men could use some help picking out their ties. I don't care if you"re ole lady bought it for you for Christmas or not,............ughhhhhhhh. Obama and a couple of other had enough sense to wear their power ties, (RED) of course, and it looked like it had the desired effect.

     Most everyone at the State of the Union address last night could certainly use some help in fashion from what I saw. These are the folks that represent America all over the world, and if it weren't for the men there, one would think the women were from the streets, (like homeless). Just because you make good money and can buy expensive clothes, doesn't mean you have any taste at fashion girls. You really need some help, and NOW!!
If that is my impression, can you imagine what the rest of the world thinks of us, when they are out and about. Trotting around the world, spouting nonsense, and looking like they do. It is no wonder the rest of the world views us the way they do. I am sure other countries get a good laugh at us when we visit their countries and our representatives present themselves in such a manner. The women the TV cameras panned during the speech were not a nice sight to behold last night. No one is even going to broach this subject but me. I feel it is my duty to bring it to somones attention, because this is certainly an issue that should be addressed. In the business world, it is common knowledge that FIRST IMPRESSIONS are lasting, and one has only one opportunity to make a FIRST IMPRESSION. Last night was certainly a revealation to me, and I for one never even thought that I would be addressing this topic, espsecially concerning our top leaders of this nation. The impression last night was much less than pleasant. America is and has an abundance of ugly and ill kept representatives, and I ask myself why. It doesn't have to be that way. It is up to each and everyone of you to change, and do it for the better, you can't do much worse.

     From the State of the Union address last night, from the way you folks presnt yourself, America needs help fast. You folks, yep, The House, The Senate, Congress and all the rest of you folks are in need of assistance.
Don't do this to us again. If things aren't bad enough already, we have to look at you,,,,,,ughhh, give us a break. Don't do it for us, do it for yourself. You folks should know better, and the reason you get away with it is because not one of your friend, or associates have the guts to tell you that you look and dress terrible.
I don't give a damn if I offend you, you need to know these things. My income doesn't depend on me kissing your ass. Many of you need to lose weight, take better care of your hair. Learn how to select and wear jewelery, not dog collars. You have your work cut out for yourself, good luck, I'll be watching.

Bush Clinton Retirement Buddies

     Listening to Bush and Clinton today on ABC News was a revealation. Our first concern is to save lives is what Bush said. Bush said we should care afterward also, it pays to have a democratic friend in the neighborhood. Clinton said the Haiti gov't wants to build a modern county. Of course, makes sense to me. It is also easier to do when you don't have to pay for it.

     Take anyone in America, ask them if they would like a new house if it were free? Of course. It is not that I don't have concern for those that are suffering, I do. What gets me is that when Bush and Clinton get together and show so much concern for those in Haiti because of a natural diaster, and total disregard for the American citizens that face similar situations, like in East St. Louis. Yep, you guys look good, dress well, and are rather convincing in your assessment of Haiti. My question for you guys is this. Supposedly you are Americans. You both were Presidents of this nation. Where in the HELL is your concern for your citizens? YES, the ones that llve in abject poverty here in America. I don't know if either one of you ever heard of the Applachian Mountain Region here in America. Take a trip there and see how your fellow Americans live. Then get off your self righteous ass and do something for them. Maybe it is because they are WHITE, that you guys don't give a damn. That seems to be the way things are today. Take a trip to East Saint Louis, it's OK, these folks are black Americans that desperately need your help. Do you discount them because they aren't from a different country. Right here in this country there are hundreds of thousands of people that could use your help, and it is not forthcoming. Well Bush, I heard your comments, our first concern is to save live. If you meant what you said, then start doing so in America, It is not illegal. When you and Clinton can buddy up and do it for Haiti, you can certainly do it for America. We, the American taxpayer pay for your retirement for the service you rendered to our country. We need your help to assist those that are in a similar situation here in our country. Please, don't turn your back on them. These folks love, hurt, suffer, and feel like those in Haiti. Where is the help for them? They are no less deserving because they live in America. Please help them.

     Didn't your parents ever teach you power brokers that you take care of your own home first? Ya, it's easy to fly around the world, talk your charismatic caring, and all of the wonderful things you intend on doing for them in the future. Americans are dying at your feet and you dismiss them. iYou gnore them and day after day, watch them suffer in misery, go hungry, and yet you can stand behind a microphone and tell the world how much you have concern for your fellow man. Quite frankly, Bush, Clinton, you have never learned something vital, and that is the right way of caring. Show me a mother saving every child in her town while her own children starve.
Call it what you will, but it is hypocrasy at it's best. Take care of America, we took care of your ass when you were in office, now quit trying to save the friggin world, and try and save Americans that need your help.

GM GETS PROGRESSIVELY WORSE

   GENERAL MOTORS GETS PROGRESSIVELY WORSE

     A short time ago, I wrote a blog on the new Chev Camero. I am still pleased with the body design, and applaud those responsible. Within the last few days, I saw a review on the new Camero, and there were a lot of good things pointed out. One item that surprised me, and it shouldn't have. was the gas milage. The car gets 16mph in town, and 20 on the highway. Now, I am not an engineer, but there is no doubt in my mind that the car can get better milage than that. If those figures are correct EPA ratings, then deduct 30% from those figures and one has a much more accurate estimate of the true milage. The reason I say that is because in the past, and on more than one occasion, I have asked those in the industry and those were the figures given to me for an accurate estimate of the true milage of a new car. So, take roughly thirty percent from 16, and lets round it out to 11 in town, and 13 or 14 on the highway. Those are the real figures on the Camero costing 32 Grand. Am I the only one that knows this is disgusting.

     I have wondered since the Camero made it's return debut why General Motors refuses to advertise the car like the rest of the Chev line-up. Now I know why. They are ashamed, and they should be. While they claim to be an auto company, I have to disagree with them. No, they are not. They are a shameless bunch of idiots having manufacturing facilities at their disposal to play around with. Since the auto company has to pay tribute to the gov't and the oil companies, it is really no wonder why this situation exists. My reason for the previous statement is validated by the fact that in recent months, GM pulled the EV1 off the market with clalims that the car was not wanted by consumers. That is a blatant lie by the company, and misinformation to the consumers. Anyone that owned an EV-1 loved the vehicle. Once the car was recalled, 70 owners tried to buy the vehicles for over 1.2 mil, and GM turned them down.   The vehicles were subsequently trucked to Mesa, Az. where they were crushed. Brand new, semi used vehicles destroyed because they presented a threat to the oil companies. One should have seen this coming, as GM wouldn't allow anyone to buy the vehicle, but rather lease them. Does that make any sense at all. People want to buy your product, but the company won't let you. Why are they still in business? Why did the gov't bail them out? Why wouldn't GM sell their hybrid instead of leasing them?

   Is it true that GM is now acting as a front for other activities? Since the Fed Gov't owns it, or a large part of it, those rumors might not be far off. We are never going to know the truth. The corporate power brokers can't tell the truth. We know that. The gov't, and the oil companies are in denial, and neither one of those entities are capable of telling the truth, so that leaves them out. So, we, the consumers are left to speculate about such matters. I am a firm beleiver that corporate america, regardless of theeir name, are nothing more than well paid liars, and it has been proven time and time again.

     So, GM has brought the Camero out again, and from the looks of things, they want and look forward to it being another failure. I am sure they will be successfull in that endeavor. GM has a past track record of being a failure, and by now they are very good at it. I will not be surprised at the demise of the new Camero, and it is just a short matter of time. What's next, who knows? I look forward to all of the lies and excuses that we will have to listen to when it does occur. Camero, from me to you, RIP, you had a good run.

AMERICA HELP US

     Was this a plea I heard recently, or a figment of my imagination? I haven't really figured it out yet, but I will eventually. Anyway it went like this. The Wall Street Journal Headlines a plea from the middle east. It is a plea for the God Fearing folk of America to unite and send all of their money to that part of the world. The US Gov't has determined that the middle east is incapable of taking care of themselves. These desert dwellers have occupied that area of the world for thousands of years, and it all of that time still remain incapable, according to the US GOV'T. That is the reason that the US needs to send more Americans to that part of the world. To teach and train them, send them arms and ammunition so they can use on us later. IE: Osama bin Laden. (ring a bell anybody?)

     Take Yemen for example. With all of the killing going on there. With all of the terrorists, the police, and Armed forces and other agencies and groups we don't know of, there is not one (1) professional killer that is capable of teaching others this fine art. Amazing isn't it? And after 5 thousand years of killing each other, no one has risen to the level of a professional. Now it is up to the Great America to step in and take control. show them how it's done the right way. There is no other country that is going to do this but us. Why is that? Are we the only ones that care? Yes. The sad thing is that America is guilty of caring the wrong way. Just piss away taxpayers dollars,you stupid jerks. Since you have your head up your rectum, we don't expect you to see daylight for quite a while if ever. Yes, let us occupy the middle east for the next two hundred years, and sell America down the drain in the process, hell, you don't give a damn. You won't be alive.
After all, these countries are loaded with oil, but they can't take care of themselves. Drugs flow freely, but they can't take care of themselves. Who in the hell is kidding who?

     Of course they are going to take our money, like Pakistan. Return on Investment, piss poor to zero. Let Yemen be next, and see who follows them to the welfare treasury of America. The unforgivable sin for the American Government is to take care of it's own. While people are dying here, starving in the great America, homeless and destitute, uneducated young, no one hears their cry. If falls on deaf ears. While this year we can send millions (which it will be) to Yemen, our government is incapable of giving the senior citizens a paltry 3% cost of living increase. But, if your an Arab, just ask a Senator or other gov't official for a hand out, and it is in the millions. Ummmmmmmmmmm, food for thought that, huh? Yep, indeedy, screw the Americans.
There isn't a nation on earth that doesn't screw us. Why? Everyone knows we are all wealthy. If the gov't is an example, Hell Yes, we are all loaded the way they spend, and spend, and spend some more. Why wouldn't the rest of the world view us that way? The gov't is supposed to set an example, and it does so. It is such a
terrible example, it is repulsive. Is it any wonder why we are so detested in other nations? I can certainly understand the feelings.

     It seems that Big Brother has intentions of adopting all other nations on earth, and bring them into the fold. So we are all safe and sound and wealthy. There are no borders, no decension, arguments, no reacial bias, no domestic disturbance, or child abuse, everything is just fine and dandy. We all love each other and there is no crime. We just all live happily ever after under the great wings of the American Eagle. Free love, free spirit, marry any thing you can think of, no matter how bizarre, don't worry about education, you're smart, so is you kid. See how simple things could be if we all give up our individuality. Nice and sweet and rosey.

     Perhaps, I am awake, maybe not, I don't know. This could be musing from Mad Magazine, or something ethereal, maybe from the Twillight Zone, or random thoughts from a very sane individual. Could it be from a crazy person? We will never know.

The NFL and the WHO?

                                     THE NFL AND THE WHO

     It has just come to my attention that the idiots running the NFL have made the selection for the band at the Superbowl this year. It is the WHO. I have no idea of what the selection process is all about, but I do know this. With all of the musicians in the US, the WHO is the best you could come up with. Is it because Obama didn't give them a cost of living increase this year? Those running the NFL don't accept mediocrity from the players, so why in the world would this be your selection. Does anyone in the US except senior citizens even know who the WHO are? I don't think so. So, in tune with the times, the NFL shows America that they have been sitting on their brains for some time.

     For example, I would have selected ZZ Top for the honor, at least a lot of young people know who they are and can identify with them, even if they are older than time itself. Far be it for me to do your job for you, but in all fairness, you guys are out of your friggin mind, and I hope you enjoyed the drugs you perhaps were injesting when you showed your stupidity. I do want to thank the NFL for a good laugh this Saturday afternoon.
It made my day in numerous ways, and it will last for some time. While I really can't say much for you, I will take a moment and applaud all of the players, coaches, and others that make the game possible for us to enjoy.

     For the upper echelon of the NFL, you guys really suck, and today proves it. Before I close this, something you guys might think of. A braintransplant, LOL. Don't tell me you don't have the money, hah! A moment of being serious, and that is, We, and I speak for hundreds of thousands of fans, know that you are capable of doing much better than you have, and not only that, but as a fan, we expect better from you.

BEFORE GREEN

     Once upon a time, (before most of you were born) I helped a friend of mine build a mobile home. It wasn't what conventiional wisdom of the time would view as a mobile home. It all happened by accident, or perhaps fate, I don't really know. I was hired by a gentlemen I met to tear down an old barn that was in disrepair. His wife was tired of looking at it, and her, being a social climber claimed it was an eyesore. It did nothing for her self image, and thus, it was destined for removal.

     Since the job was too big for one person, that being me, I called upon a friend for his assistance. We drove out to the job site the following day, and slowly started the process of dismantling the structure. In the process, we found out that the barn was built with square nails, hand hewn timbers, and pegs. It was a slow going, and we put pieces in different piles so we knew what we had. As time went by, the barn came down. When it came to the heavy beams, we hired a crane to do the job. At long last, the job was compleated, and the barn lay on the ground. My friend saw a couple of large beams and decidded to keep them along with some other pieces.

    The end result was, we got paid, everyone was happy, except my friend, (he was exstatic). After the completion of the job, the beams were cut to my friends size with a chain saw, and another project was started. This happened to be his new home. I was busy getting rid of the lumber from the barn and was out of touch for a week. I went over to Jims place and he was busy. He had mounted an axle front and back and had the beams locked together. It was a nice start, and he showed me his plans for the rest of his home. It was twelve feet wide and sixteen long. Everything was planned around 4x8 sheets of plywoood. Twenty two sheets of plywood for the whole place. minus door, and windows. We lalid the floor and sill, then the walls. The roof was seven feet on the back side and eight feet on the front. It went up fast, and we were so proud of our labors. There was a camper that had been in a wreck, and the owner wanted it gone. We hauled the camper to Jims place where we used the stove, fridge, sink and anything else we could use, including the toilet. The inside was wired for both DC and AC. An auto wrecking yard provided the lights from the wrecked cars. The lighting was all indirect, a transformer let us select which mode we wanted to use. Storage tanks were used for the fresh water and grey water. Jim used a small pump and a water hose to pump water into his tanks when needed. A small bathroom was built with a shower, It turned out to be a cozy but small abode, and all of the furniture was built in or fixed to the floor. As a means of storing electricity, we took a generator from a car and a 5 hp lawnmower engine. Wiring them to the battery pack of six, he only had to run his generator once a week for about 30 mins. We had quite a party when all was said and done, and it was easy enouogh to tow behind a pick-up.

     This was my very first experience at "going green" or "recycling". It was fun and exciting, and something I'll never forget. Simce that time, I have used materials thrown away for an easy and comfortable lifestyle.
Currently living in an older condo, I am using discarded styrofoam to insulate my windows from the cold. It works extremely well. Discarded building materials allow me to build shelves and a computer table, and other things that I find myself needing. By building things myself, everything is to my desires, and size. I enjoy working with my hands, and the completion of my projects is quite a satisfying. Certainly not top of the line, just functional, and everything I build is Made in America, LOL. Going Green as it's called today, is just a smart way to do things. It doesn't take a lot of money, unless you want it to. Going Green can be what you want it to be for you. As has been said, it just takes one small step, and your jouorney begins. After all, you only have a lifetime. Many folks today are realizing that less is more, and are downsizing because they want to, not because they have to. Going Green is a conscious decision, the level of involvement is another concious decision. No one is going to twist your arm. Going Green shows others the level of intelligience that you have toward life, and the respect you have for life. We are caretakers, nothing more. How good are you at taking care?

     A recent tradgedy in Afghanastan cost the lives of seven dead, and seven more injured, some critically, because of the incompetant actions of the CIA. It seems that the futile actions of the CIA trying to win the hearts and minds of terrorists intent on killing Americans brought forth the following incident.

     A CIA agent brought an Afghan onto a military base with the intent of recruiting this person to spy on his bretheren. In the report that I heard, this agent bypassed more than one security checkpoint with this individual. No one took the time to shake this person down, put him through security checkpoints, and totally disregarded protocol. The end result is the following deaths of seven employees, and the injury of seven more employees just doing their job. What and why this agent did what he did is beyond comprehension. This Afghan was a suicide bomber, and wired for the job at hand. Needless to say the Afghan completed his mission, and will be rewarded in the afterlife, according to their beliefs.

     This displlay of self indulgent irrresponsibility by the agent is a disgrace to the agency and the American people all over the world. Is this the kind of person we trust to guard and protect our nation? What in the hell is going on over there? More troops are needed over there our gov't says. What for I ask? To be used as a target for such behavior? I don't think so. Everyone knows that if one is stopped by a police officer, a pat down ensues. Does anyone want to tell me that the CIA is above such a routine? How rampant is this idiotic behavior in such an organization. Why didn't those at the security checkpoints take action? It is no wonder why the terrorists run free and do what they do, when they can easily penetrate our military bases, and we sit back and kiss their ass. God forbid that we should offend the Muslim world, do racial profiling or any other effective method of stopping this insanity. The world is going to hell and American is leading. What happened to the men once in gov't that had balls and stood up for what was right and effective is spite of the opposition. American has become a nation of pandering enuchs as is displayed daily by those in office. Who in the hell is in charge? What in the hell are they doing to stem such a blatant disregard for rules everyone else is supposed to follow.

     There should be a congressional hearing to find out why this is allowed to happen. Who is going to be held responsible? This is just another example of piss poor leadership and enforcement of regulations. Everyone will say their sorry, it wasn't their fault, and the root of it is FEAR. Fear of facing a superior and putting them in their place. Fear of losing a promotion, or position. 'Fear of taking a stand and accepting reeponsibility. Does anyone think for one moment that our enemies don't know and see what is going on. One can bet that they are astute enough to capitalize on our weakness.

General Motors going downhill

     Does General Motors know what the hell they are doing? Quite frankly, I'll say "NO". A short time ago, I happened to see a vehicle that really impressed me just by the looks. To say I was surprised was an understatement. It was the "NEW" Chevy Camero. Since that time, I have not seen another Camero on the road anywhere. Since I live in Las Vegas, one sees a lot of unusual and exotic cars. The Camero doesn't fit into that catagory, but it is a nice looking vehicle. Is General Motors not selling or building them? I don't know. What I do know is this, there are a lot of commercials on TV. The Chevy commercials tout the Malilbu. I have not seen one commercial for the Chev Camero.

     It stikes me as strange that the company would build such a nice looking car, and not bother to advertise it. There is something going on with GM, when they take the time and effort to produce the car, and keep it in the dark and away from the consumers. What........GM has decided they don't want to make any more money after the gov't bailout. Not long ago, GM pulled the EV1 from consumers that loved that vehicle. They told the lease holders to return the cars, and then took them to Mesa Az. where they delibertly crushed them, Cars that were an alternative for regular cars. Cars that the consumers wanted to buy and keep. GM said NO. There wasn't a market for them. GM blatently lied to the consumers. Those that were the lease holders banded together, pooled their money to the tune of one point two million to purchase the 70 vehicles, and were turned down by GM. Doesn't make sense to me, when the company is supposed to be in business to make money. What the hell is going on?

     Now here comes the Camero, and it is hidden and shrouded from the advertising community, kinda like a secret. Can't tell me they don't have the money to advertise. The Malibu is their front line vehicle for the year it seems. That's all I hear about or see on the TV. My question for the company executives is what is your real intention. To not advertise the Camero. Tell people there was no demand for it. Like you did with the EV!, and then pull it from production. The company General Motors, is not a company. It is a National Disgrace to free enterprise. It is a cesspool of deceit and corruption, The gov't should have let them go out of business, because it is apparent that they don't want to make money. They have a hidden agenda, and are using the company as a smokescreen it would seem. It isn't strange to me, since it is a gov't owned company.

     Most of the attempts by GM in the past have been failures, and it is easy to see why. Who in their right mind would appoint a leader to a company that doesn't know a thing about it? General Motors, that's who. It is like taking your child to a doctor for a tooth ache, and have a proctologist do the work. Makes sense to GM.
So this is to all of the executives at GM who know what is going on, you are a disgrace. I have no doubt that there are some honorable executives employed at GM, and I cast no dispersions on you or your integrity. The folks I am talking about know exactly who and what they are. There is no second guessing about this.

     I for one, will never buy one of your cars. I will never have one in my driveway. I wouldn't take one as a present, I will never have anything to do with a company that uses such underhanded business tactics. Tell blatent lies to the consumers, and know that you are lying delibertly. Maybe other companies do the same thing, and I have no doubt that they do. I just know that General Motors is guilty, and I chose not to have anything to do with your compaany. General Motors sucks. How could I be compelled to think that your advertising is anything close to true when I know you are a liar. Lie in one area, you will lie in all areas, so from my minute perspective General Motors, you can go to Hell, and I hope it happens soon. Perhaps this year 2010 will be your biggest failure yet, it's looking that way.

     Are they really a football team? Is anyone sure if they are in the NFL? Who selected them to be the bad example of the year? Do they really know how to play football? What is the head coach doing? Who is the head coach. When are they going to replace him? Is this just some weird Christmas joke on the State, or the NFL? Is the team just trying to see how many points they can lose by?

     It is unfortunate for the readers of this blog, that I cannot answer any of the above questions truthfully. I would like to, but am unable to do so. This is one of the few times in my life I am in a confused state of mind.
I am still watching this thing on TV. It is supposed to be a football game. The Giants are doing great, the other guys, soome of them are really giving it their all, and I commend them. Hey guys, you know who you are, the next time around, take more time and really choose a team to play on. Ohhhhhh, my goodness, the Redskins jussssst made a touchdown. Yeaaaaaa, a couple of the guys can play, there is hope for them. I am hoping that the leadership of the team pulls it together.

     Hey leaders of the Redskins, these guys are busting their hump for you. You can't tell me that this is the best you're capable of. We all know better, so get your head back up on your shoulders, study your opposition and learn a bit about stratagy. Yes, the players make a lot of money, and they would really like to earn it by winning for you. Make your boys proud. These players are a product of their environment, and you, the leaders, headcoach on down are the environment. This game is one of the few times that I have heard the announcers say more than once how embarrassing this was.

     It is now getting worse, the guys are starting to lose their cool and fight. How adolescent can you fellas act? The score is now 45 to 12, and still time to go. Ohhhh, my what are we going to do? Well, it is quite apparent that you have no way in hell of winning, and from the looks of things, that certainly wasn't you intention from what I witnessed. So, I am turning you off and go have a nice drink and fantacize about something more pleasant. Football used to be fun to watch, can't say that tonight, and to think, LOL, youo guys really get paid for being so inept. If I happened to be there in person, you would have the gall to charge me money to watch this disgrace. heh, heh, heh. Hey, I've had my say, and I will wish one and all a Happy Holiday Season.

The scientist who convinced the world to take notice of the looming danger of global warming says it would be better for the planet and for future generations if next week's Copenhagen climate change summit ended in collapse.

In an interview with the Guardian, James Hansen, the world's pre-eminent climate scientist, said any agreement likely to emerge from the negotiations would be so deeply flawed that it would be better to start again from scratch.

"I would rather it not happen if people accept that as being the right track because it's a disaster track," said Hansen, who heads the Nasa Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York.

"The whole approach is so fundamentally wrong that it is better to reassess the situation. If it is going to be the Kyoto-type thing then [people] will spend years trying to determine exactly what that means." He was speaking as progress towards a deal in Copenhagen received a boost today, with India revealing a target to curb its carbon emissions. All four of the major emitters – the US, China, EU and India – have now tabled offers on emissions, although the equally vexed issue of funding for developing nations to deal with global warming remains deadlocked.

Hansen, in repeated appearances before Congress beginning in 1989, has done more than any other scientist to educate politicians about the causes of global warming and to prod them into action to avoid its most catastrophic consequences. But he is vehemently opposed to the carbon market schemes – in which permits to pollute are bought and sold – which are seen by the EU and other governments as the most efficient way to cut emissions and move to a new clean energy economy.

Hansen is also fiercely critical of Barack Obama – and even Al Gore, who won a Nobel peace prize for his efforts to get the world to act on climate change – saying politicians have failed to meet what he regards as the moral challenge of our age.

In Hansen's view, dealing with climate change allows no room for the compromises that rule the world of elected politics. "This is analagous to the issue of slavery faced by Abraham Lincoln or the issue of Nazism faced by Winston Churchill," he said. "On those kind of issues you cannot compromise. You can't say let's reduce slavery, let's find a compromise and reduce it 50% or reduce it 40%."

He added: "We don't have a leader who is able to grasp it and say what is really needed. Instead we are trying to continue business as usual."

The understated Iowan's journey from climate scientist to activist accelerated in the last years of the Bush administration. Hansen, a reluctant public speaker, says he was forced into the public realm by the increasingly clear looming spectre of droughts, floods, famines and drowned cities indicated by the science.

That enormous body of scientific evidence has been put under a microscope by climate sceptics after last month's release online of hacked emails sent by respected researchers at the climate research unit of the University of East Anglia. Hansen admitted the controversy could shake public's trust, and called for an investigation. "All that stuff they are arguing about the data doesn't really change the analysis at all, but it does leave a very bad impression," he said.

The row reached Congress today, with Republicans accusing the researchers of engaging in "scientific fascism" and pressing the Obama administration's top science adviser, John Holdren, to condemn the email. Holdren, a climate scientist who wrote one of the emails in the UEA trove, said he was prepared to denounce any misuse of data by the scientists – if one is proved.

Taking a quick look in the past, and viewing the History of Governments, I heartily agree with James Hansen. It would be best, if the summit talks ended in failure, which will probably happen. I have been witness to many issues our government has tried to solve. The end result is a tremendous waste of time and money. Anytime one lets the government try and solve an issue, we, the people are inundated with research, committees, arguing between parties, self serving interests, and the list goes on. The end result is nothing, or some ridiculous inept proposal with failure the end result.

A recent example is the corruption of the General Motors and their attempt at electric cars. The EV 1, I beleive was produced by General Motors. The company wouldn't allow consumers to purchase the vehicles. They were all leased. When the consumers found out how good they were, they were very impressed. End result, GM let the lease holders know they were going to have to return the vehicles. There was nothing wrong with them, it was just GM became concerned because they were made so well. The lease holders returned the vehicles, and further investigation found that GM was intent on destroying them. The vehicles in California were trucked to Mesa, Az. and impounded in some obscure desert compound. Witnesses, previous lease holders, saw some vehicles destroyed already, and others waiting to be crushed. The lease holders asked GM to sell about 70 of these autos to those wanting to keep them for over 1 million dollars and GM refused. Now, are these the people we want to solve our climate crises? ABSOLUTELY NO. Ahhh, don't forget, our gov't is part of GM, remember the bailout. HA, HA. That's the gov't for you.

I say, keep the gov't out of our business. They are supposed to govern, not be in business with GM, or any other entity. It seems like this has changed. There are hundreds of thousands of people with viable alternatives to the crises we face. Maybe small in mumbers, but very smart in mind and creativity. For example, in Los Angeles right now, there is a fellow (God Bless Him) that puts GM and most of the car companies to shame. Why is it that "HE" is able to take a vehicle running on gas, and in a short period of time turn it into a wonderful electric auto. Those that have availed themselves of his skills are currently driving full size electric cars that out perform the gas guzzlers. He doesn't have unlimited funds, or millions or more in gov't bailouts, but still manages to make the car companies look stupid, which they aren't, just self servingl. I will not
mention his name in this article, but for those of us that know, WE KNOW.

NOW, BACK TO cLIMATE CHANGE. Does anyone want the US Gov't to take charge of climate control? Not me. They are a living example of failure in action, and very expensive at that. We cannot afford them to do so. In spite of the doomsday outlook many folks have about the upcoming 2012 events, life will go on. It will just be quite different from what we know of life today. Mother Nature has never failed life at cleaning house. She does a good job of it. Right now, a major concern in China is the sweeping, never ending encroachment of the sands. Destroying livlihoods, and homes, and villages. Decimating farmlands, in it's never ending journey. When will it end? When Mother Nature decides for it too, not before. Mt. St. Helens in Washington State changed the landscape quickly and dramatically. Life goes on in Washington. Tronadoes, hurricanes, mudslides, severe winters, all take their toll on our lives, and we plod onward, in spite of the obstacles. Solving the future
obstacles in our path is what we do best, so leave the problems for the people to solve. We have always done it before, and it always brings new opportunities for us to capitalize on. We will adjust, it's one of the things we do best. History has the anwers we are looking for. Ex: Many cultures live in deltas where the rains flood every year. Do the tribes run away? HELL NO. They just adjusted, and built their homes on stilts. Novel idea, huh? There are so many answers for today imbedded in the past, and are just coming to light. Another Ex: Many cultures lacked wood to build homes. Did they run away? NO, they just compacted earth and built with that material. Look at the great wall of China. Compacted earth. How long has that wall been around? Do ya think your home might last your lifetime?

Human beings are best when faced with challenges. It doesn't matter what the challenge. Remember when Kennedy told the world that we would be in space? Did we do it? Damn right we did. We are problem solving intelligient beings. Our minds are barely used, so no matter what is going to happen, we will perservere. It is not so much a matter of what is going to happen, but how are we going to deal with it. There is a solution to every obstacle, it is just how one prefers to look at the situation. So, we the people will deal with it, and we will win. We are all born winners, and there is nothing so great that we can't handle. What is your view???

Bad News for Las Vegas

                                            Bad News for Las Vegas

     While the Gov of Alaska, Sara what's her name had a bridge to nowhere, we beat Alaska. That's nothing compared to our city. We don't have a bridge to nowhere, but.......we got one better. YESSSS, a monorail to nowhere, and with inflated prices to boot. Once upon a time, a few years back somone decided to put a monorail in the city of Las Vegas.
While that isn't a bad idea, it isn't necessairly a good one.

     The idea was proposed, discussed, and implemented. Expensive, of course, this is Vegas. At first the idea was to have the Monorail run down the middle of the Las Vegas Strip. So somewhere along the course of events, the route was changed to run behind the casinos and let the visitors see all of the trash containers. This was heartily accepted. Now most sensible folk would have a meaningful destination for this mode of transport, but such was not the case, It was suggested that it go nowhere, and that is exactly where it goes, nowhere. From the Sahara Hotel and Casino down the strip and ends at the MGM in some obscure place. Now the MGM is huge, and when you get off the monorail, you're in for quite a walk to get somewhere. The monorail only has seven stops, and is useless, a waste of time, money and energy. The rail system from the Mandalay Bay is far more effective and even goes further than the "Las Vegas Monorail". At first when discussed, the monorail was going to run down the middle of Las Vegas Blvd. If nothing else, that route would have given the tourists a look at all of the lights in the city. Someone with a different idea, thought that admiring trash containers in the back of casino would be better. So, that is what they did. Once the operation opened, there was nothing but one problem after another with it. Wheels fell off, doors wouldn't open, and the list goes on. During the design process, no one was smart enouogh to consult with others with previous experience.

     I know that there is a monorail in Seattle. I have ridden on it many times when I lived there. It was a great mode of transport, fast and easy, and comfortable. The idiots here in Las Vegas didn't have the brains and wherewithall
to consult with others that have already built monorails in the past. Duhhhh, how absolutely idiotic can you get??????
For close to 650 million dollars spent on the project, whewwwww, what a blatant waste of money, The prices for the tickets is absurd. Like, I want my money back now, so gimme, gimme. I have not ridden on the monorail, and never will. If the ride were free, I'll take a pass. Once on, you may not be able to get off, no thanks. The monorail, it seems, is like a big ride at a carnival, for families, just less fun.

     Now the big news is that this fiasco might be going bankrupt. Well..............it's about time. You weren't really designed to be a success in the first place, you've had you minute in the sun, now get lost. Who needs or wants you anyway? NO ONE THAT'S WHO. Thanks to the controlling interests in Las Vegas, the monorail was not meant to be successful, it was just another construction project to pay off special interests, and it did so. Now that this is over, we can get on with the next ridiculous project, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, like the City Center for example. Fun times ahead of us folks.

       As a resident of Las Vegas, and having lived here for some time, I thought it prudent to let those in charge of the City Center a tip. Your commercial sucks. I watched it. If one wanted to enjoy that type of music, so be it. It's really ok. For your info, it just isn't Las Vegas. I have been fortunate enough this morning to watch a commercial from the Palms. Somehow, and for some reason, the Palms "GOT IT", AND YOU DON'T. Check it out, you dummies might learn something. I know the Palms spent less than 50% less for their commercial than you guys did. I know, I know, money isn't the object. It shouldn't be after 11 billion dollars. It is just that those running the Palms knows what the hell is going on, and certainly know what appeals to their customers. While they don't kiss ass for the elite 2%, they know how to appeal to a steady flow of customers that keep spending money month after month, year after year.

     Just a thought. Perhaps it would be in your best interest to send your management team over to the Palms and have them learn what they apparently don't know. Well, you had your grand time last night, or this morning, and a lot of people showed up. Impressed by all of the extravagant overspending, and bling, YES, you certainly made an impression. Now, we shall see whether or not it was a favorable and sustainable impression. Pderhaps it will be, I hope so, but common sense tells me otherwise. In spite of that, I really do wish you well, even though I might seem to be a bit critical. I am sure that is the way folks will view this article, but it isn't critical, just obvious, honest observations of one that knows Las Vegas.      I have enjoyed Las Vegas for years, and have always had fun. Over the last ten years, things have changed dramatically. One of the greatest, and most treasured icons of Las Vegas I watched get destroyed. Las Vegas will never recapture its lost glory. I am talking about the STARDUST. From the plane windows flying into Vegas, one could see the neon of the Stardust beckon tourists. I was one of them the first time I came to Vegas. At that time, it was owned by the mob, so I'm told, and it was wonderful. The clink of the coins from the slots, the lights, the music and tourists blending together as a great smorsgasborg of life. It is something I'll never forget.

     Now, the idiots on the loose in Las Vegas, in their pathetic manner have come up with their idea of Las Vegas. YES, I am talking about a new structure called the City Center. As one cow follows the other, people traipse through the building ooohhhing, and awwwwwing, and pointing to this and that and the other. This isn't anything like Las Vegas. If that is the case what is that monstrosity doing here anyway? From the stupid spending, and waste of money, the people responsible have their head up their ass. They know nothing of Las Vegas and don't really give a damn. The average folk in this town will never go their. It wasn't designed for them anyway. It is for the elite 1, maybe 2% so they have an opportunity to piss away their money on inflated goods and services, brag to their friends that, "we stayed at the city center, we ate at this resturant, we shopped here, ect. The city center is a gathering place for those that have no sense, and too much money to waste, like orange county residents. There will be thousands of people thinking it is really great,.........it's not. Did they spend and waste a lot of money? You bet your ass they did, that's Vegas. Will they ever recoup the investsment, very doubtful.

     The leadership responsible for this fiasco have lost their way, perhaps never knew their way, and don't know a thing about Las Vegas. I am listening to a new forcaster talking about this 11 billion dollar joke, saying, if you build it the people will come. Sure they will. That is not the issue. Will or are they going to spend enough money to support it? Hell No. Why?????????? It really sucks, and for those with any kind of sense in their head, they won't pay such inflated prices for what little they get. A suckers paradise, and Aria, which opens tonight at 1150pm, will see a lot of traffic. If one were to check the financial status of all of the traffic tonight at the Aria, over fifty per cent aren't going to spend any money because they can't afford it. Time will tell whether or not I am right or wrong. For now, I am right on the money, and it will be fun to listen to the justifications for why it is not doing as well as expected. It is real simple,.....................YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING,,,,,,,LOL.....GOOD LUCK.

     Well, I am awake and spending time with my first cup of coffee. My friend points something out to me that I really have to laugh at. There is an article on the internet that speaks of a bowler that won a championship with a score of 244. His closest competitor was 228. Now once upon a time I used to bowl, and it was not in a professional capacity. My scores rival the 244, many times it was much better. I shake my head and wonder, is this the twilight zone or what?

     It becomes much clearer to me as I look into this a bit deeper. The champion, an X employee of an X company called General Motors was the winner. Oh my, it all makes sense now. We all understand that one becomes a product of ones environment, well..........there you have it. General Motors became defunct because of terrible business management. The government, changed the diapers of GM, and put them back in the playpen of business. Now we have an employee of this business bowling and the best he can do is 244, and that is a reason to applaud mediocre performance.
Makes sense to me. It seems that this is the new way of conducting business in America today. I am just too old for this new world and the way they do things. I am to old to applaud mediocrity. I am smart enough to realize that this is just another filler for the news media to take up space. Why didn't the news media find something more worthy to print? In all of this wonderful land, there is not something more worthy to print that this nonsense. C'mon, give me a break.

     Now, this is the way that my Monday morning starts, and it is with a hearty laugh bouncing off the walls of my abode. With nonsense out of my way so early, there is no doubt that I will have a good day. For all of the serious bowlers in America, keep it up, and let's forget this 244 champion from no where. I have no doubt that there are thousands of serious bowlers that do better than that and never win a championship. Keep the faith, keep it up, and do not let the ridiculous make you loose your focus. So with all of that being said, I realize it is now December and the Holidays fast approaching. Wishing one and all a Happy Holiday Season, and know the best is yet to come.

What Happened To Our News?

                                                    WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR NEWS?

     There was a time, and it was not recently, that the American people used to be able to access the news. On the radio, or the telly, reporters reported the news, and it was broadcast to the people. For the last few decades, things have changed dramatically. The elite, and major corporations have bought up the news media, and now control what is broadcast to us, the people. What we hear, and don't hear is a direct policy of thoses in charge. They have their own agenda. After the news reported that the Gov't was sending an additional thirty thousand troops to Iraq, a reporter went to interview military wives about their opinion. What in the hell did the reporter expect these women to say to him. That they disagreed. There is no way that they could tell the truth without putting her family at risk.

    First, the wives have husbands in a combat zoneS. Is the wife really going to tell the truth? She can't, there is too much at stake. The military controls her husbands life, and most of her friends are also in the military. She is going to willingly ostracize herself from friends and family? I don't think so. She is not going to risk the lives of her children when they have to go to school and get ridiculed by their peers. She isn't going to jepordize her husbands next promotion by disagreeing with the gov't policy. My question is what in the hell was this reporter doing by making such as ass of himself. What in the world did he expect? Just what he got. Oh, and this is supposed to be reporting the news. What a laugh, and the end result, the women had their responses broadcast on the telly. THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE NEWS............?? Stupidity in action on the news front.

     The only truth found in the printed media today, is the name of the newspaper, the date, and all of the advertisements. A shame? Of course. What can one do? I quit taking the printed media. Thousands of others did the same and as such, a lot of newspapers went out of business, or opted for the internet. Me, I prefer two solutions, don't pay attention, (very good) or the internet. At least I don't have to listen to the ones that spout half truths, and misleading info, or biased party nonsense. The media doesn't hesitate to let us know who is on the far right, or the left. Me, I couldn't care less what side you're on if you are reporting truthfully, and leaving your opinions out of the content. It doesn't seem to happen that way anymore, because the controlling interest has it's own agenda which it keeps to itself, and tells the subordinates what to print, and what to ignore. Can't blame the subordinates too much because it's their job, and they have families to feed. Can't afford to lose this job and be blackballed forever.
So, it seems as though the news that we receive from the media is from kiss ass employees (can't say I blame them), and
the powerbrokers who dictate the policies others must follow.

     There was a time when things were much different and the truth wasn't so hard to get at. With all of the deceit, cover'ups, and conspiracies going on, forget the news, and the nonsense that goes along with it. Another alternative I will mention, is talk radio, and NO, I don't mean Rush Limbaugh. Other talk radio show hosts are much better. One has a lot of options, and if reasonably intelligient, can find a station and host that appeals to them. So, for now, from the Golden Keyboard of Smokey, I wish you well, and a nice Holiday Season fast approaching.

The Nu Wave Oven

                                              THE NU WAVE OVEN

     The Nu Wave Oven is an oven, a different style of oven that I have ever seen. I have heard of it for some time now, and first became aquainted with it from a TV ad. I watched the infomercial and was intrigued. For the next few weeks, it seemed that I kept running into the infomercial, so I switched gears and started looking on the internet. I found a few forums, and read the reviews. I haven't heard anything negative about it which is strange. So, out of curiosity, I kept checking it out, and reading what others were saying. Time passed, and I, in the back of my mind decided to get one.

     The reason I wanted one is because I am a single person, and don't eat all that much. I am on a budget, and have to watch things closer than most, and I like to eat healthy, or modestly so. The oven is portable, and one can take it on a trip, use it in a motel, campground, or anywhere there is an electrical outlet. It has three different types of cooking, conventional, convection and infrared. Cooks faster than conventional cooking, and the food is very tasty and not dried out. One can bake in it and it is quite versatile. So, I kept reading reviews and talking to people about it. I found a few folks that had one and they used it all of the time. Seems like those that owned one, really were taken with it, and used it all of the time. Bus Drivers, cab drivers ect, all had pretty much the same to say, "I really like it, it's simple to use, set it and forget it type of affair.

     During this research. time had passed, and I really wasn't in a rush to buy one. If it is a good buy today, it will be better or just as good tomorrow. I was saving money in the process, so when I wanted to get one, I had the money set aside. Eight months had passed, and this oven was in the back of my mind, not forgotten, just on the back burner. Well...........wouldn't you know it, I was on my computer and checked out the Nu Wave oven again, and this time, it was on sale. Time for me to make a move, I ordered one. It came and I was so happy to get it. It was round and kinda weird, but folks say it works real good. Now I am excited to try it out.

     My first try with the Nu Wave oven was with a three pound roast. I read the directions and followed them to the letter. An hour later there was a nice aroma emanating from the kitchen, and I went to check on my roast. I'm happy to report that it turned out great. Moist and tasty that rascal was, and I had to admit that I was favorably impressed. Having past experience ordering products from the TV, or the internet, I always remain skeptical, This was one of the times I was pleasantly surprised, and am very happy that I finally decided to purchase the product. The clean-up was easy, and didn't take me long at all.

     My second adventure was to do some pork chops. A friend I told about the oven brought some over and we threw them in the oven following the directions. We added some potatoes and other vegatables to the lower rack, set the time and enjoyed ourselves. The time slipped by, and suddenly the pork chops were done. We left the vegtables in a bit longer, and a delicious meal was our reward. This time, my friend and I were both surprised at the results. Ummm, ummm good.
For anyone thinking of, or wanting to know about this particular oven, I will give it a thumbs up, It is a very good product, does what the advertisers say, and more. Is small enough to take on the road or for camping trips, and the food is great. Having the desire to enjoy your food at a higher level, Nu Wave is the way I have chosen to go, and with no regrets at all. This may not be for everyone, but for those that it is for, happy eating days are ahead for us. Looking forward to Christmas. So, with all of the above being said, I like the Nu Wave oven, and it was a careful and thought out process for me. I did my research, talked to folks that owned them, and took a chance. I'm very glad I did, and as such am now eating my meals on a much higher and enjoyable level.

     Yep, once again I find myself cheating. I just couldn't help it, and I'm sure there are a lot of people like me out there. Where? Everywhere. For the last week, I have spent countless hours scouring the internet, craigs list, classified ads, going to stores like Lowes, Home Depot, ect. All in the search of an inexpensive small table saw. Now this should not be an insurmountable task, but it was certainly more time consuming than I expected. Home Depot had a Skil table saw for a come on ad, for $59.00. Wow, that's incredible. I stopped in the store to see, touch, and smell this bargain.

     There were a few saws sitting on the floor just as one entered, so I went over to check things out. I looked at the saw. I was disappointed in the quality as it was made cheap and sloppy. I dougt that you could even get a straight cut on the darn thing. Another drawback was that it didn't have a stand, which I wanted also. Well for another $70.00, I could buy one in addition to the saw. I wasn't impressed, so I went to the Home Depot.

     Now Home Depot had a good buy, and I was certainly tempted. A Ryobi 10" table saw with stand for $114.00. That is a good buy anytime, and with tax, figure $125.00. So far, that is my first choice, and it went to the top of the list. Thank God for Home Depot, they're the best. I kept them in mind and kept on searching a bit longer. This is going to be my Christmas present to me because I've been so good this year. I looked a bit longer and found nothing even close, and decided that the Ryobi would be the one for me.

     Later the next day, I had an appointment with my Dr. His office is close to a large mall, and the Sears store. I was a bit early, so I went into the store to look around. Much to my sursprise, they had a 10" saw by Craftsman, just what I was looking for. for $99.00. I went to my Dr.s appt, and came back to the store and bought the saw. I saved a few dollars, but I've never been disappointed in any craftsman tool I have ever purchased. Now my new baby sits proudly in the kitchen in the way, and it will facilitate me making some more christmas presents for friends. I love the Christmas season, and I hope that all of you have a great one too. I'm blessed by the Gods, they love me. I am so happy to be me and not someone else. Happy Holidays to one and all.

The Race is on

                                               THE RACE IS ON

     I was outside a few minutes ago, umm kinda chilly. Going back inside, I fixed a cup of coffee and went to the see the runners of the Great Las Vegas Sunday Morning Marathon. I am not a runner, so I strolled the block and yep they were there. LVPD, or commonly known as Metro. One squad car, and another officer on a motorcycle. Pleasant they were as they kept their eye on the runners heading west on Twain. One officer a young woman, the other a male, as they engaged in conversation, and allowed me to safely take some photos. Sparsely at first the runners past us as they made their way to the finish line, wherever it was.

     I did have to admire the courage of those disabled in wheelchairs giving it a go. My money would be on them to finish, and undaunted they passed me by as I sipped on a warm cup of coffee. While I don't really have an opinion of the marathon itself, it seemed like a good turnout, and there were folks of all ages participating. Me, after much comtemplation years ago, came to the conclusion that I make a fair spectator. I took a few photos for posterity and watched them, then strolled home, where it was nice and cozy and warm.

    While I sit here at my computer composing a few lines, and drinking my coffee, I think of the businesses that are disrupted, and the loss of revenue because of the marathon. I think of all of my tax dollars paying for the dedicated officers to sit in the middle of the road for hours on end. It occurs to me that the decision makers of this city are rather demented in their ability to come to rational and logical conclusions. Las Vegas is surrounded by streets that have little traffic, and plenty of desert for runners. What I disagree with is the blatant disregard the city has for the taxi drivers that need to get around the city, the bus drivers that need to change their routes, and the disruption to the riders. All of the service people that are affected, like the garbage truck drivers, janitors, and the list goes on. The businesses that will be closed, and the loss of revenue they suffer, This is the unseen side of the marathon. Each and every business paid for a business license, and the marathon wasn't an issue when they applied for the license. Suddenly out of nowhere, folks can't get to their business, can't park, ect. Why? The marathon of course. Is the city going to pay the business for their loss, nope. So, they take it in the backside, and the city can't seem to figure out why things are so difficult. Well, maybe it is because you keep making it impossible for us to make any money...........duh?

     Perhaps the answer to our present situation is to elect smarter leaders. Perhaps they don't have to be any smarter, just less prone to outside interests. Now,...........thats a thought. Las Vegas used to be about Gambling, and now that has changed. Las Vegas is broke, and losing money, and the elite can't seem to figure it out. Seems simple to me. Do what has worked in the past. Attract Gamblers, not health nuts. While I don't have a thing against those that are into marathons, when you shut down the strip on the busiest night of the week,it is a ridiculous move and it affects everyone. While the residents don't pay a state tax and we rely on tourist revenue, and you drive them away and make it so mirerable for them when they stay here, what can you expect? Just what we have, an economy in distress. So, while I have my opinions and perceptions, which are totally mine, thank you the leaders of Las Vegas for displaying your stupidity in such a blatant manner. Most folks overlook the obvious, but not me...LOL. Try looking at the big picture in the future, it is easier to make smarter decisions.

     For those that haven't figured this out yet, there are two marathons taking place today. One is the marathon that I watched running on the streets. The other marathon is for our leaders to make sure Las Vegas loses more money. I wonder who is really going to win. I have already placed my bet, heh, heh, heh.

     Yes, it has arrived, Thanksgiving Day. A day to count your blessings and enjoy your family and friends. I am a single person, older than most of you, and always thankful for what I have, and most of all for what I don't have. I don't have a bad attitude, I don't have a lot of material things that anchor me down, and my life is filled with so many wonderful experiences, I look forward to each day.
     Many people will sit down to turkey and the works, and that was my plan until last night. I went to a Smiths grocery store to pick up a couple of items, and while going through the aisles saw a freezer full of turkeys. The butterball turkeys were advertised for $10.00 for a sixteen to twenty pound bird. Too big for my little oven, but on the other side of the butterball turkeys were some smaller ones for $5.00. They were between ten to fifteen pounds, and I decided to get one. Now come on folks, if you are a shopper, doesn't that sound too good to be true? Of course it does. The optimistic me thinking that this is the holiday season, and folks are just being good, and I am fortunate to find such a deal went to the check out counter, smiling and happy. When the cashier added things up for me, she said that would be twenty plus dollars. In a courteous manner I asked how can that be? It was then that I was informed that the turkey I was so grateful for wasn't the real turkey, I was, LOL. If I would kindly make a donation of so much money to some charity that I never heard of before, I could get the turkey for the $5.00. If not,.. we know what happened next, don't we? I left the turkey behind. As I walked from the store happy with my purchases, I wondered why no one in the store had bothered to put up signs stating the requirements for the purchase back at the freezers to keep the customers informed.
     It dawned on me on my way home, that today is the day of being slick, cunning and deceitful, and making every dollar you can from everyone all of the time. While I declined the offer, there would be many others that would feel guilty, embarrassed, ect, and make the donation to save face. I guess I am too old for this new world, and do not appreciate the tactics used by individuals, or most businesses to make money. In spite of the awakening at the store, instead of having turkey, my thanksgiving will be of a more modest nature. I will fix myself some hotcakes, drink a hot chocolate, and have some pineapple for desert. It really doesn't matter what I eat today, the appreciation for what I have is what really counts today. There have been times that I have had much less, and still been thankful.

     I found this little article on the net and had to sit back and smile. The creative genius at work in America. I just love it. Seems like the gentleman is doing a brisk business now, and isn't suffering the ills of our economy.

Am I crazy or what?

     Not that long ago, before many of you were born, I was the proud owner of a Toyota station wagon. It looked like, terrible, but ran very well. After I boght it, out of curiosity, I checked out the gas milage, and was shocked. I was getting between 32 to 35 miles a gallon in town, and over 45 on the highway. I loved that car and drove it for a few years, maybe five. When I got rid of it due to an accident, it had almost 200 thousand miles on it, and it never needed major mechanical work. I just drove it and took care of it in a reasonable manner.

     Today I listen to all of the car companies brag about all of the new cars getting maybe 33 miles on the highway. The EPA rating is not accurate. Many car salesmen I have talked to say to take off roughly 30% of the EPA rating and you are much closer to the truth. Well now 33 minus a third is back to 22. Ummmm, for the price of the car, and getting lousey milage, keep building all of the gas hogs of yesteryear, at least they were roomey and comfortable. I am not able to say that about todays vehicles. What a shame.

     Today I heard a commercial about the new Chevys. Try it out for sixty days, and, if you don't love it, bring it back. What happens when you bring it back, and they already sold your trade in? Oh, yes, they are going to sell the car you brought back in, but..............is it still a new car? Maybe they have found a way around that, and still sell it at a new car price, I don't really know. From the looks of things, I will never find out either. If anyone wants to buy a gov't car (Chevy for example) go get one and use it for two months, run up the milage, take it back and let the salesman know that you don't love the product. Your next step is to go to another GM dealership and get another new car, why not. Everyone milks the system, now it's your turn, go get a Chev today, use it for 7 weeks and turn it back in. It's your tax dollars that are keeping them afloat, get something for it. Best to all, and have a good Thanksgiving.

General Motors finally did it.

                                                    GENERAL MOTORS FINALLY DID IT

     I could not believe my eyes today. Out for a walk, I stopped in a neighborhood store for a purchase and on leaving the store was astounded by this vehicle. It was yellow in color, and a car I'ld never seen before. I was impressed by the rear deck and walked over for a closer look. It was a new car by General Motors of all things. A brand new Camaro SS. I thought I was hallucinating at first, but it was real. I spent some time admiring this work of art, and had to finally conclude that at last, and finally General Motors had built a car that was worthy of a purchase.

     With what I saw today, I wonder why in the hell it took so long for them to get it together. For the men and women involved in this project, you deserve a raise, and you are certainly worth more than they are paying you. Thank you for sticking to your guns and seeing the project through. This is the first car GM has built in years that has struck an interest in me, aside from the Corvette, that is. I have ridden in many GM cars over the last twenty years, and quite frankly, I would not take one as a gift, let alone spend my money on them. I have been a GM fan since I was old enough to drive, and with very few exceptions have always owned GM. When the Camaro was discontinued, I lost interest in GM, and have patiently waited year after year to see what they came up with. My patience has been rewarded today upon seeing the new Camaro. It was worth the wait.

     General Motors, now that you have a team that can finally appeal to the public with a worthy auto, quit producing this medicore whatever you call it, turn them loose, and get back to doing what you used to do so well. Build a worthy automobile for Americans. This is how your reputation grew in the beginning, building a product we wanted, and we helped you get wealthy by buying your product. See, it's really not that hard to figure out is it? Now keep all of the jerks away from the team and let them go, you finally have a winner.

WHAT A RUSE

Am I the only one that realizes that the radio waves and TV are filled with nothing but Health Care debates? I am fully aware that the Democrats and Republicans seperately or together are not capable of coming up with a good plan. The blatant waste of our tax money, and the hours of drafting up useless plans are nothing more than a distraction. It is to keep us from knowing what the hell they are really up to. I don't know what it is, but I do know that it will be detrimental to the rest of the nation. Magicians use distraction to keep us looking at this, and not focusing on that. They are really good at it, and this is what is going on now.

As a senior citizen, Medicare is available to me. Having been forced into retirement, I started getting my SS checks. One day, in the mail, came a letter saying that the government would be taking almost $100.00 per month from my check every month. I read the letter time and time again, and it made me angry. The gist of the letter was this. Once a person turns sixty five and starts getting their well deserved SS check, the gov't turns right around and deducts $100.00 a month to pay for part B of Medicare. This is only going to pay for roughly 70% of whatever costs one incurs. Now the remaining 30% is for you to pay. Isn't that nice? Just how is this going to happen when that is the only source of income? I went down to the SS office and had a chat with them. I will not go into detail, but I was told that if I decided to change my mind at a later date and want part B, then I would be charged additional money because I wasn't smart enough to see the value in the first place. Fortunately, I was able to avoid the $100.00 deduction from my check after signing some forms, and letting them know that I had another source for my medical care. I happen to be a Veteran. Oh, that's nice I was told, we have many Veterans that have both, are you sure you don't want to carry both like the others? I politely told them NO, as I was fortunate to live in China Town in Las Vegas.

What does that have to do with anything I was asked? Well, there is a senior center in the neighborhood where a bunch of old folks still live. Home remedies are alive and well there. Down the block and around the corner is a fellow from Sudan, and he practices Voo Doo. There are many Asians that practice acupuncture, and acupressure, a few Herbalists here and there plus some naturopathic doctors, and many other gifted folks from the Philippines, Fiji, and I could go on but won't. As you can tell from above, I am so well taken care of. Not one cent goes to the pharmaceutical companies or the white coated saints we call doctors. I have spent too much of my life going to American Doctors, and the quality has gone down hill. For the most part, like 90% they aren't worth a damn. This is not to disparage the honest ones that really care, but one will look long and hard to find them. I have fired many doctors in the last couple of years, and they are and were a disgrace to the Medical Profession, and people in general. They were utterly stupid and had no people skills whatsoever. Thank God I am a smart and stubborn individual that refuses to be impressed with sterile white coats and titles. Just because one goes to Medical School and graduates doesn't mean that person learned a thing, just like a felon, they put in their time. Thank God for Alternative Medicine. Thank God for those that practice it no matter where they happen to be from.

     I listen another person representing America from the administration? What is Anita Dunn? Who is Anita Dunn? Does she have a secret chinese lover? Is she on the Chinese payroll to stimulate their economy? Will O"Bama boxer shorts sell good in the future? What qualifications does one need to possess to get a cushy job in the beltway? Is Anita Dunn really an American Citizen? How many more questionable life forms occupy positions of power in our current administration? Isn't there a screening process one goes through before being appointed to such high positions? Who does the screening?   How much does it cost? Will they take monthly installments?

     Is it true that Anita has a condo in China? When, or is she going to get her dual citizenship? Is it true that she will retire over there? Are the chinese going to put her in politics? Does she speak chinese now, or is she taking a course to learn the language? What is she doing in or for America? Is it true that she needs a couple of more years to pad here retirement portfolio?

     Is she really as inept as she seems on TV? Who does her hair? Is she taking courses on public presentation? Does she shop at K-Mart? Can she afford a fashion consultant? How much longer does her interim position last? Does anyone know? If she doesn't retire will she run for the Presidency next election? What will she wear for Halloween this year? Does she really trick or treat? Is there a Jenny Craig in the beltway?

     So many questions, so little time. The above are questions that should be answered, since this administration has proclaimed a level of transparency. Since she is a part of the whole, this should not present a difficult task. Once the questions are answered, America will have a better understanding of who and what is Anita Dunn.

It is difficult for me to understand why some folks don't know why Copenhagen rejected Chicago. It's easy for me to understand. Obama is from Chicago, ohhh, what a revelation. Now, why would Obama want Chicago instead of the other wonderful cities throughout the US? Ummm, maybe it was supposed to be a payback for something, just maybe, huh? The bright and brilliant folks are just tired of sucking up to him because he is soooooo special. Not only that, Chicago is just too windy, LOL.

So...........while a few folks are stumped, a lot of us understand quite clearly. Now isn't that just amazing? Once again, the administration has underestimated the opposition, and are left in a quandary. I find it rather amusing to find supposed intelligent people rebuffed, and confused because they didn't get their way. I must commend those in Copenhagen for having the integrity to see through the obvious, and take appropriate action.

Perhaps that is a form of payback for the President ruining the economy of Las Vegas during one of his less than brilliant outbursts. Hey President Obama, remember Karma?????????? Cosmic justice still survives in spite of us. Perhaps in the future, others will pay heed to this bit of wisdom. All fools can criticize, complain, and condemn, and..........most fools do.

Brazil is a most appropriate choice for the upcoming festivities, and I thank all of those responsible for using their wisdom in making such a choice. For those with intentions of participating, it will be a memorable experience. Exposure to the fun, food, music and diversity is an excitement beyond compare, and I will look forward to seeing you there. Once again, THANK YOU COPENHAGEN, WE LOVE YOU. These thanks come to you from the average Americans with no ulterior motives. Oh, not a Democrat, or Republican, just an American with sense. Should I be at sea and encounter a pirate or two. Bang, your dead, no remorse, not sorry, and don't mess with me and mine, sucka. The sharks need to eat too. It makes me sick to hear all of the sorry people in America pander to such BS. Oh, it isn't such a big issue. You are so right, not till it is you and your family, then you scream like hell for help. Not a big issue???????? Forget the government, empower the
legitimate maritime ships to deal with it. Most of the folks at sea, Captains and merchant marines, are for the most part military to some degree. They are smart and competent. Let them deal with it the problem. If an engine fails at sea, do they call the garage, no; they are smart enough to have someone on board to deal with it. Hungry, they don't call the fast food place; Oh, they have someone on board to deal with the food. Amazing, isn't it? Well, for safety, you forgot? Get real you global idiots. As far as so-called responsible news reporters go, it shouldn't surprise me to see the one sided reporting going on today. I hear reporters bashing Bush about the money he spent in office, there is nothing said about all of the money our Prez has already spent (and wasted) which far exceeds the total amount Bush spent in all of his years in office.
I am not one to agree with Bush, but when the amount of money wasted in just a few months by the Obama Administration far exceeds what Bush did in office, lets put our focus where it belongs. The rhetoric from our current politicians, we will make sure regulators oversee this or that, quite literally, scares the hell out of me. Past performance has shown that regardless of the regulator put in position by the government, that person is incompetent. The job will never be done the way it should be, with honesty and integrity. Why? Quite simple, those chosen for the job have neither honesty or integrity, and will sell their soul to the devil, or.... it's already been sold. They owe others and have to pay up, or lose the next election, or appointment to a more prestigious committee. The good ole boys own them lock, stock and barrel. So, considering the above, overlook your responsibilities, and claim some inane
excuse, get re-elected, get the new appointment to another committee, and life goes on, and oh, ...make sure you say I'm sorry. That's always good; show remorse. All will be forgiven, you can continue to lie and cheat and steal from the taxpayers, and pat your friends on the back proclaiming how you really are. Isn't that nice? Now America is going to be pumping millions of dollars more into Mexico to help curb drug traffic. What another waste of taxpayers money; it just isn't going to work. An effort in futility, a reasonable man would say. If you are serious about your intent, stopping the drug traffic, history has shown us the method to use to accomplish it. Remember prohibition. The government made alcohol illegal, (real smart, huh?) Later, when the law was repealed, and alcohol was legal, and the profits weren't there for the mob, guess what? They moved on to other things, some which included, legal and profitable businesses. Isn't that just amazing. The mob, and the drug cartels have mastered a basic fundamental in one of the many laws of success. Find a need and fill it. Once the American government can pull their head out of their ass, and quit pandering to select groups infesting the beltway, and serve the public as was intended, then maybe they can have some positive effect. Until then, just keep pissing my tax dollars away on nothing. It seems that is the only thing you are really good at; oh, and lying too. Wait, why don't we say that you really aren't lying, just giving us misinformation? It sounds so much nicer and makes you look better. See how nice we are?

With that being said, quit giving every country on earth money for whatever reason. Take care of America. That is what you are being paid for, isn't it? Maybe the oath you swore when taking office was to China, Russia, the Middle East, or North Korea. If that is so, pack up and leave. If not, start taking responsibility for your actions, uphold the oath you swore to when you took office, and for once in your pathetic life, do America proud. You are American too, don't sell us down the drain.

Today is another amazing day on the political horizon. We are going to talk about Korea. Just recently they had the audacity to launch a missile, in spite of others telling them not to. Now we have our President upset, because they didn't obey. It seems to me that we forget so easily, and quickly too. It wasn't long ago, maybe it was, that another president disregarded the global community, and attacked a country in the middle east, Iraq. At that time, that president, just went on his merry way to execute his own agenda, regardless of the global community and their feelings. Not unlike Korea recently. The attack on Iraq was the first time in American History that we initiated a pre-emptive strike against another country. The reason, GREED. Oil revenues for the Bush and Cheney gang. Oops, and to think that we are still there gaining the hearts and souls of these pitiful people, and wasting the brightest and best of the young in America today.

So, my question is this, why so upset? We set a precedent along with Russia about these weapons. Now others want them, and if they don't have the same ideology as ours. Oh, Oh, No, you can't have them. It seems like the bully on the playground syndrome. The same one-sided consideration that should have become outdated long long ago.

Now our President wants to outlaw all of these weapons. Ha, Ha, kinda like pissing in the wind. Sure I understand your concern. The people you are going to be dealing with are all liars, and are only interested in serving self, and you are going to place your faith in them. Good Move, guy. Not only that, you will no doubt have some regulators monitoring this affair of yours, right? Of course. Forget it, especially if they are Americans. The worst of the bunch. They haven't been able to regulate anything for years, yet, you will suggest someone for this position that cannot be trusted. Look at the track history of American business and regulators, it really really sucks big guy. Look at recent events and the integrity of the regulators, it is nothing more than a cesspool of like minded greedy business folk padding their retirement accounts. Another great move that leads to disaster.

Any individual that has been in politics, banking, mortgage business, Enron, AIG or the bailout business, should not be considered for that position. Anyone living in the beltway should not be considered. State and local politicians or lobbyists should not be considered either, as all of the above are corrupt, and would not do the position justice. Their interest would only be in serving themselves.

Our President, Barack Obama, and America is so proud. Of what? At the summit currently being held, he made a statement that the world has too many nuclear weapons. Duh, so who started this in the beginning? It is a surprise that others would want the same toys as we have? Now, we get upset? Rather absurd, huh? We played with ours, now our neighbor wants to play with his, and suddenly it isn't ok? Because there is a difference in philosophy, we are going to demand and force our will on others. Maybe it is time to take stock of what America is doing. We can do anything in the world we want, even if others oppose our wishes, like invade Iraq. The rest of the world disagreed with us, but thanks to Bush, we did it anyway. Now we expect the rest of the world to kiss our ass because we are the great America.

This attitude has prevailed far too long in Washington, and it doesn't matter what the rest of the world thinks, if we want to do something, we do it. World opinion doesn't mean squat, ask Georgie Bush. He had his mind made up to do what he wanted before he even became President. Information was fitted to his selfish needs, and lo and behold, we are still in Iraq. For what? It was all a cunning manipulation so he could accomplish his own agenda.

Now Barack Obama wants the whole world to just scrap WMD's and everything will be ok. Arabs will run to hug Israelis, and vice versa. We will all laugh and jump for joy, because the whole world is safe now. Isn't that just sweet. China, Japan, and Korea will sit down and drink tea and joke together. What a wonderful world that would be. Just think, when this happens, there will be no more crime, the Secret Service and Law Enforcement can give up their guns, and shake hands and hug offenders. Terrorists will flock into the cities and say they are sorry, and be forgiven. Just think, we might just have a one world religion, where everyone will worship one god, no matter what he is called. Flowers will blossom all year long. No more hurricanes, and tornadoes. No more marital problems or arguments. The world will be such a better place to live, and this excites me, as it is something I've never envisioned before.

My first marriage happened to me when I was quite young. It was a rack from a billiard table. You know what I am talking about. I got hooked real fast, and every moment I could, I was at the hall. I watched because I didn't have the money to play. Sometimes, I would be allowed to help clean-up for some table time. It was a high for me to clean the billiard tables. I eventually became somewhat adept.

Once I joined the service, there was my first love. A beautiful billiard table. The soft glow of the lights shining gently on the green felt. The wood edges polished to a high degree with a welcoming shine. It tugged at my heart strings, and once again,........I was hooked. My competition was stiff and remarkable, as I found out there were some extremely good players and a few great players. No one played pool in the service for nothing. There were no let's just play for fun. This was serious, the players were serious, and it was expensive if you didn't win. I know, I spent a lot of my money learning the fine art of billiards.

After some time, I got good, then a lot better. A lot of the techniques I learned was from the sidelines. I could see things much differently there and watched the better players for hours on end. Then there came a time when I was classed as one of the better players, and spent more time winning than I did losing. It was around that time in my life that I got my first divorce, from the rack. I still have a fondness for it, however, I must admit that we are not as close as we once were. Good News, we're still friends.

After the service, I had a friend that just bought a new table and we used to spend hours playing on it. One day he asked me to meet him in a small town a couple of hundred miles away on the weekend. He had a plan to make some quick money. We would go to this club by ourselves a couple of hours apart. We would act like we didn't know one another and during the course of the evening, hook up as partners in a few games, kick some ass, make some money and split. It all seemed to work rather well for us and we finally got to partner up. During the course of playing, I found out that this was the meanest bar in the town, and the night before, a couple of hotshots tried the same thing we were doing, and ended up getting stabbed. This was a bit unsettling for me to hear, and looking around, there were some mean and tough looking customers hanging close about. We played five games and won all of them. There were some folks getting pretty pissed off at us. During the last rack, I excused myself and went to the restroom. I kicked out the window, crawled out, and ran to my car. Without looking back, I headed for home with my pockets full of money. The next day, I went over to my friends house, and he told me that he had never been so scared in his life. He didn't get his ass kicked because I was the one that stole his money too. That was my first and last time as a pool hustler, I made some money, I was ahead, I quit. I was a winner. I split the winnings with him, and we laughed about it, and swore never to do it again.

I still shoot on a regular basis, I am still good and have a few sticks of my own. I am still adept, and the look of the soft light shining on the green felt still tugs at me, and I fall for it every time. Things have changed a lot in the years since I first started. Now they have multiple colors of felt, and I find that disgusting. Nothing will ever compare with green felt, and the look and feel and sight of it. Tables have changed along with everything else. I can close my eyes and drift back in time to the original tables and the soft click of the balls as the gently kiss each other, the sound as they drop in the pockets, the smell of the leather lined pockets, and the high sheen of the wood shining is the semi dark. A wonderful world that lives in the memories of, hah, hah, the old guys. Can't say I'm sorry you youngsters missed it. There is nothing quite so magical as a billiard table, quiet, serene, and waiting.

Anti-American John Carey opens his stupid mouth and shows his stripes once again. Johnny, since you don't like the American Constitution, why don't you and your family move to Venezuela? Maybe other countries that are more restrictive would be more to your liking. Why not England? They don't allow firearms, but don't tell me they don't have crime.

It had to be a good payoff for you to make such a statement. If this is truly what you believe, you don't belong in America. As a politician you have sold yourself to the lobbyists and greed mongers, and today have validated that politicians can't be trusted. Let's trash the Constitution, and do whatever in the hell we want, anytime we want for whatever reason we want. Let's get rid of law enforcement, they carry guns, and God forbid we should continue to let that happen. Let's take the armed forces and have them use pillows to defeat our enemies. You were a sperm floating around somewhere during the second World War. Hitler used the same rationalization you are using to disarm Germany and other countries. Look what happened. I guess that is OK with you. You are so isolated from the reality of life, and have the gall to think you really know what is going on. Do America a favor, get the hell out of politics, keep your mouth shut, and go get a job at McDonalds, or a gas station.

You and those of your kind are a disease to America. If you don't like or respect the Constitution of America, just remember, it is the very same document that gives you the freedom to make such asinine statements. Love it, or leave it. I mean America. Should you happen to love America, just remember, love encompasses respect, and that includes our constitution.

AMAZING ISN'T IT? SO WHILE ALL OF THE PUNDITS ON THE TV, ALL OF THE ANALYSTS PAID MORE MONEY THAN THEY ARE WORTH, WERE SPOUTING THEIR SILLY NONSENSE, I COMFORTABLY RODE THROUGH THE CRISES, AND DIDN'T LOSE ANY MONEY WHATSOEVER. DO I BELIEVE IN A BROKERS ADVICE, NO. THEY GET PAID WHETHER YOU WIN OR LOSE. IT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER TO THEM, THEY ARE COMMISSION DRIVEN. THEY LOVE A BUSY MARKET, AND REALLY DO NOT HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST AT HEART, SO.........WHY WOULD ANYONE PAY THEM ANYTHING?

I LEARNED A LOT BY GOING TO THE RACETRACK EVERY YEAR. ONE WOULD HEAR OTHERS TALKING ABOUT A PARTICULAR HORSE, AND SUDDENLY RUN TO THE WINDOW TO PLACE A BET. LOSERS, EVERY TIME. KNOWING NOTHING PEOPLE WOULD RUSH TO THE BETTING WINDOWS TO SPEND THEIR MONEY HOPING AGAINST HOPE. AN EXERCISE IN FUTILITY. I LEARNED A GREAT DEAL ABOUT HUMAN NATURE, AND THE MARKETS ARE ONLY DIFFERENT IN THEY DON'T RUN HORSES, BUT THE ATTITUDES OF THE INVESTORS ARE SO SIMILAR IT'S AMAZING.

I AM HAVING A GREAT TIME, AND IT PLEASES ME TO SEE THE MARKETS UP 500 POINTS TODAY, AND DOWN THE NEXT. THE SO CALLED EXPERTS MAKING FOOLS OF THEMSELVES EVERY TIME THEY OPEN THEIR MOUTH. PLAYING THE BLAME GAME ON EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING TO JUSTIFY WHAT THEY SAID YESTERDAY. OH, ANOTHER PEARL OF WISDOM FROM GRANDPA. ALL FOOLS CAN CRITICIZE, COMPLAIN, AND CONDEMN, AND MOST FOOLS DO. JUST WATCH THE NEWS PROGRAMS ON TV AND SEE THEM IN ACTION.

Good Morning..........means a hot cup of coffee. Steaming hot coffee spreading it's aroma throughout the house. What a glorious way to start the day. While I am enjoying the warmth spreading to my hands, I know that hundreds of thousands of restaurants, cafes, 7-11s, AM-PMs and other businesses are ready with Americas favorite beverage. Drink it here, drink it there, maybe on the go, but there is nothing like a good cup to sip in the morning.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, I remember going to a new place that was the rave. A new place that served the greatest cup, so the story went. We stopped and ordered. The menu was extensive, but I managed to order, and was totally shocked. My friends were laughing and having fun, marveling at what a great find this place was. Being the oldest in the group, and having traveled extensively, my taste buds new what a good cup tasted like. I was disappointed to the degree that I threw it in the trash, and went to an AM-PM across the way. My cup that I got there wasn't fancy, or expensive, but, By God, it was good. To this day, many years later, Starbucks is still doing fine, and serving overpriced burnt coffee beans to the public. I have never spent a nickel in that place since my first time, have never been in another establishment with their name on it, and I am quite content. My friends were disappointed with me, but they were young and stupid and didn't know better. Now they are old and stupid, and it is now a tradition to frequent the place. God Bless them.

A few years ago, a friend and I decided to drive to New York City from Portland, Ore. We left, and during the journey, we stopped at buffets, truck stops, cafes and restaurants, and gas stations. The most amazing thing was that not until we reached the fine state of New Jersey did we get a decent cup of coffee. It was a small stainless steel train car converted to a diner. The place has been there for over forty years or more. The outside of the place glowed like only stainless steel can, and the inside was immaculate. We sat at a booth and ordered breakfast and drank our coffee. The seams where the stainless steel met were screwed together, and even the slots in the screws were clean. No broken tile, no cracked counter top, it was amazing, and one of the finest trips I have ever had, and, ohhhhh, yes, the coffee was wonderful. I will never forget New Jersey, and that jewel of a restaurant. Oh yes, one more thing, my friend and I had breakfast, and coffee for less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Coffee beans, and water. That's what it takes to make a good cup. Somehow over the last few decades, Americans have forgotten this lost art. When one can't make a good cup, this nation is in sad shape. God forbid that you should have the audacity to tell a waitress or waiter that the coffee is terrible. Well, no one else has complained I was told. Look at them I told the waitress, they are all brain dead. I don't care if they have complained or not, I am, and would like a fresh pot. My waitress huffed away somewhat upset. She made a fresh pot, took it and poured others coffee, then went behind the counter, and poured the rotten coffee into the fresh pot and came to my table. I got up and left without paying for the coffee. That is the American way today. I have yet to go back to that restaurant again. There are a few good places that I frequent, and I let them know that I will wait for a fresh pot. I do not relish drinking day old coffee that they saved from yesterday to serve today. My motto is Long Live Coffee.

I am sitting here in my cozy little home and a couple of thoughts occurred to me. Most of us, including business are always measured by performance. One can look at past performance to determine what one might expect in the future Take Credit Bureaus for example, they look at how people pay their bills and determine their credit worthiness. This is how they determine what interest rate they will charge you. Thinking along those lines, I extended that line of thought to our Academic Institutions. Like the leaders in the field. The ones held in such high esteem. When our politicians graduate from these institutions and are praised for their excellence, and enter the political arena, they end up selling their soul to the devil. The elder statesmen, corrupt the newbies by arranging for them to head certain committees, or be on them to insure votes go their way. As a newbie, one is looking toward the future with enthusiasm. The good old boys club has the power to select ones for appointments in various areas to insure votes go their way, or ruin an up and coming newbie if one is inclined to disagree. Thus we have honor and integrity in the beltway. We cannot forget the lobbyists that buy and sell anyone and everyone they can, for whatever purpose. Namely Greed.

These perceptions are not a monopoly of the beltway, but extend to all areas of the government, city and state included. When one looks at the world today, and the terrible quality of our elected officials, it is a disgrace to the Constitution, America, and all American citizens. Our elected officials at one time were supposed to set an example for the rest of us, and for many years now, that trait has been shelved for greed and selfishness.

I for one did not vote in the last election. There wad no one I felt I could trust. I was right, and every day validates my decision. I was having a drink in a Marine Bar, and all of the other patrons were of the same mind. Vote John McCain. Why? He was in the military, that's it. I mentioned that President Bush was in the military and look what a fine job he did. He violated his oath of office when he swore to protect the nations borders. Maybe he skipped over that part when he was sworn in, I don't know. The patrons in the bar became so angry that I had the gall to disagree with them. It was pointed out that I had never been in the military, so what the hell did I know? When I told them that I was a combat veteran with an honorable discharge, it was pointed out that I was still a dumb shit, because I was not a Marine, I had only been in the Army.

I have not been back to that bar because of the sick mentality of those that frequent it. It is the high school that you support regardless, and you support it forever. What happened to intelligent people that retained the capacity to think for themselves and reason. It seems as if you are in a group of people and happen to disagree with the topic of conversation, you are ostracized immediately. Is there an unwritten law that says you have to give up your right to be you to suck up to a bunch of ignorant idiots? I prefer to be me, and retain my dignity and the right to express myself, and allow others the right to have their opinion, even though we may differ.

Differences between us is what makes life exciting and wondrous. I would not want anyone to be like me, yet there is nothing wrong with me. I enjoy where I live as it is a variety of nationalities, mannerism, and lifestyles. Everyday is filled with excitement and wonder. Different foods, tastes, smells and dress, and languages I don't understand make each day exciting. A smile to someone of a different nationality transcends the language barrier. This is something I experience each day, and I love it. I awake each day and am so glad that I am me, and can have my opinion, and get along with every one I meet. Life is good.

Spring has finally arrived, and with it's coming, I have my first blog on the internet. If you are seeing
this, let me welcome you. I am not sure of the content as of yet, but I will let you know that I am prone
to being outspoken. Others view me as opinionated, heh, heh, guilty as charged. At my age, I guess that
I have earned the right to be. When you have weathered as many years as I have, you have seen a lot. Some
good, some not so good, and in the last few years, the absolute bizarre. What is this world coming to?

My mom and I were talking and I told her that everything she taught me as a child was wrong. At the time
she taught me, it was right. Today, it's wrong, ie: crime doesn't pay. Ummm, well, how about Enron for
example. The mortgage companies. The banks, and Americas little darling AIG. When is the last time you got rewarded for incompetence? Since I've never been incompetent, I cannot answer that question, but there
are hundreds in our midst that can, and they were rewarded handsomely at that. Seems like I missed that boat.
What...........? You missed it too? Darn shame, huh?

Well in spite of all of that nonsense, the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and the gentle spring breeze makes me feel glad that I am still alive. Undaunted I persevere and continue to smile and say hello to my neighbors. They don't understand, but nod anyway. I continue to be courteous to others and take time to smell the flowers. I still enjoy the innocent children at play, and pray for their future. Now, it is even
more enjoyable, because I get to blog which is a new thing for me. There is always opportunity for those
that look for it.
